Cricket Field Ford Project

To reduce downstream sedimentation during flooding and halt further bank erosion, a ford was reinstated at the Cricket Field beat in Congerstone

Bank reinstatement involved rebuilding and regrading the bank slopes, adding stone and live willow to prevent further erosion. The live willow hedge also provides a barrier against poachers accessing the river at this point.

Finished work has created a section of fast flowing river over a gravel bed now hosting a multitude of plant and insect life, essential to the health of the river and the wildlife it supports
